ROUXBE

Great website for recipes and cooking techniques. I also like that it's pronounced "Ruby".I finally have a day off today, and will be heading out for a walk soon. Just a short hike, but it will be nice to go somewhere besides work!

After the winter break,we had to readjust our workweeks, and I had to work 9 days in a row! I have developed hand cramps that wake me up intermittenly throughout the night. As soon as I have insurance,I will be seeing a chiropractor,as I had this problem 10 years ago,and that helped.

It was fun to see what Tall Pines has been up to(I am jealous-snowshoeing and trivia night!),look at all the new cat photos on the cat site, and catch up on the primaries/economy/war news.I have barely been online these past 9 days, and it took all morning to catch up!

I bought a new computer, just a cheap one,(windowsxp!)so I can do more online. I can't do much anymore with this dinosaur. I hate to see it go,but I can't read my GPS-cd-manual,watch videos,or upload photos anymore witout a cd. So,maybe tomorrow I'll hook up the new one.I've had it for almost 2 weeks now, just no time to set it up.

Cats

Ok, so this morning I was very sad and feeling the pinch of the 9 to 5 noose. I wandered over to Tall Pines to see how my friend's mom is doing and......

Holy comedic cats,Batman!

I have gone from sad to LOL, literally. I had to stop looking at the pictures,I was laughing too hard. Might be the funniest website evah.

Time and snow

Thoreau said "Time is the stream I go a-fishin' in".

Working 40 hours per week, being gone from home a minimum of 10 hours
every day, has, in effect, destroyed any concept of time I had. I am
reduced to working and errands, really. I have precious little time for
taking pictures,woods,finding boxes,blogs,rivers,friends.Dan got me a
GPS for Christmas ,because I used to get lost looking for letterboxes.
Sadly, I haven't looked for a box since Nov.19. I use the GPS for a
shortcut to work.

I am grateful that my teeth will be cared for,but it's a shame I had to relinquish my soul. Call me Sarah Bernhart, but, really,do you have to choose between care of the teeth and care of the soul?

The days of leaving for work at 4pm and being back by 11pm are long gone. Tonite
it is going to snow a foot, perhaps more, adding at least 2 hours to my
day tomorrow.I am absolutely not a morning person, but during the winter
break we are all scheduled in at 7am. So,at 3:30 when the alarm goes off,I will try to be grateful
to have a job.And the prospect of dental,if I make it through my
probationary period.

I made a conscious decision 10 years ago to retire, that is, to work less and live more. I was 30 and chose the option of having less stuff and more time. When everybody else my age was running around
trying to have kids, get big jobs, buy homes and cars,I was off under a
tree, looking up at the sky. I thought I had gotten a deal from the universe, that if I didn't want all that stuff,I wouldn't have to participate in the race to get and keep it all. Yet, here we are, trying to decide between getting up at 3:30 or 4am. The last 10 years have been good, but I guess I was wrong.

It's midnight Cinderella. Get your bucket and stop your complaining.Oh,and cue the violins.

14 New Years

Top 10 2007 Happenings

*Turned 40
*Quit smoking
*Montana
*Got a new job
*Lost #10
*Finally saw a turtle in the river
*Finally went on some different hikes in my area
*Ate crabs with a mallet in Maryland
*Visited Bushkill falls in the Poconos
*Finally understood that if I don't get mad at my mother,I won't feel
guilty.

40 is not so bad if you haven't had a drink for 13 years. When I was in early sobriety, someone mistook me for 38.
40 is also somewhat of a reminder date, like, don't forget, you may not be able to go to Montana indefinitely, remember you may lose some of your mobility, let's get going here. I am so glad I got to eat huckleberry pie with all my teeth. And the dinner at Serrano's. And the breakfasts at Coffee Trader's. And the world's best pie at the Park cafe.
